June 2022- FPGH Summer Outing

The traditional Summer Outing of the Friends of PGH was held on June 14-15 2022 at the Sabangan beach resort, Laiya, Batangas, owned by member, Lita Salvador, followed by a trip to Sariaya and Tayabas, Quezon. Not only did the weather cooperate, proudly showing off its clear blue skies and azure water, but the hostess literally rolled out the red carpet for us, arranging an adventurous island hopping tour and feeding us with an overflowing array of local Batangas dishes.

We were practically eating the whole day! Our island hopping tour ended up in Mesang Bato, a Cove with short shoreline of white, fine sand with backdrop of coral rocks and a small cave. We swam a little bit but spent most of our time in photoshoot.

The next day, some members continued the trip to Tayabas, Quezon to visit the Church of San Nepomuceno where the saint of Prague is entombed. The bishop's tongue was cut for refusing to say to the King the confession of his Queen due to seal of confession. The visit ended at the Church of St Therese in Tayabas Quezon where the remains of Bishop Obviar is entombed and who is now a Venerable

So many thanks Lita for a superb summer outing arrangements. The best summer outing of the Friends of PGH ever. Our hearts and tummies are so happy and contented!

May 2022- May Monthly Meeting Drew Up Activities for the Year

As a result of the monthly meeting of FPGH last May 2022, the following activities were drawn up for implementation this year. Support to PGH in 2022

Support to PGH

To plan a meaningful and useful support to PGH, it was suggested to identify first what objects of support are the priority needs of PGH and based on that, allocate a substantial budget for the year. This budget will also serve as the target amount to be raised by the fund-raising activities of FPGH.

The first donation of FPGH to PGH this year comes in the forms of important baby items such as cannula with short sleeves, manual weighing scales and electric Orbit fans to Neonatal ICU v As recommended by Dr. Gap Legaspi, the FPGH will provide health and wellness support for the frontliners of PGH by organizing Zumba sessions for them twice a month

The FPGH is currently a-washed with funds and can provide free medical supplies, ultrasound, CT-scan, MRI, laboratory tests to their indigent patients. It was suggested by PGH that once these hospital funds get depleted, it will call on FPGH to continue supporting the patients in these treatment areas.

Grace has helped on her own the enlisting and treatment of patients at PGH from scheduling with doctors, to treatment and follow-up. She was asked to document these personal assistances for inclusion in the record of support given by FPGH to PGH.

Fund-raising Activities

Obtain a list of happy patients who recovered from their treatment at PGH and solicit donations from them. v Organize a golf tournament sometime in February 2023 at Santa Elena Golf Course. To make this viable as a fund-raising event, Renee will get a 50% discount from the Green Tee or playing rights at Santa Elena Golf Course. The Golf Tournament Committee is composed of Baby Puno, Renee Salvador and Lita Salvador.

Online Charity Auction will take place in July-August. The committee to run this Charity Auction is composed of Lois Villanueva and Gie Obcena

Other Activities

Tour of the facilities of PGH has been postponed because of increase in the number of COVID cases. However, it was suggested that if PGH has filmed its various services and facilities through a video, obtain a copy as it will serve as a virtual tour for the FPGH in place of the face-to-face tour.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of FPGH in 2024, it was suggested to produce a coffee table book about the history, services, objectives and achievements of PGH. The editorial board for this project will be led by Heidi Mendoza, assisted by Lois Villanueva, Edna Floro and past presidents like Alice Katigbak, Baby Puno, Lita Salvador. It will focus on the 40 years of work of PGH and can include interviews of doctors, patients, and frontliners who have received support from FPGH.

The celebration of the 38th Year Anniversary of FPGH in October will follow more or less how last year’s celebration was conducted. It was suggested that the organization of this year’s celebration be assigned to the new members to engage them more actively in FPGH activities.

The Christmas Party for this year will be held face-to-face depending on the Covid situation

The yearly summer outing for this year will be held on June 14 at Lita Salvador’s beach resort called Sabangan Beach Resort located in Laiya, Batangas. An amount of 750 pesos will be charged for the lunch and merienda.

o Auction- scheduled in August to be led by Lois Villanueva

o Online Symposium and Exhibition- scheduled towards the end of the year to be led by Fe Ferriols

o Online Bingo – to be led by Renee Francisco

To explain further to the meeting participants how the Virtual Exhibition and Symposium proposed by President Pipat will be conducted, the following steps were described to run this Exhibit ·

a. The exhibit will be like a marketplace where companies, businesses, stores, foundations, government and non-governmental organizations will buy booths to sell and promote their products and services. They could be organized into galleries by themes like those selling medical solutions, wellness services, food, fashion, manufacturing, IT products, etc. The prices of booths will depend on their level, e.g., gold, silver, bronze, platinum.

b. Apart from the marketplace, the Virtual Exhibit can have another section that will show the sponsors and patrons who are not selling any products but who donated money to this event

c. Another hall could be a schedule of webinars, seminars or symposiums organized by FPGH or other companies which participate in the Marketplace. For example, FPGH can invite medical doctors from PGH to talk about wellness, COVID treatments, cardiovascular diseases, etc.

d. The Exhibit can also form collaboration with other like-minded partners which will help run the marketplace and webinars for which FPGH can share whatever income is generated.

e. The Exhibit can be titled “Moving Forward After the Pandemic” which can be an ongoing marketplace for at least one year. The geographical coverage is not only the Philippines but worldwide where international partners are based. In short, the Marketplace products and services will be exposed to the world.

f. The role of FPGH is to recruit exhibitors from all kinds of products and services. They will populate the Marketplace by selling booths as well as invite sponsors and donors.

To expound more on this project, President Pipat will send a link to an example of this Virtual Exhibit through the FPGH Viber Group. She will also write the complete proposal to be used for inviting or recruiting exhibitors and sponsors.

3. Priority Support Required by PGH

o To further assess the needs and priorities of PGH, it was proposed to meet with Director Gap Legaspi to personally explore with him their most urgent and priority needs which the FPGH can support. Grace was tasked to schedule this meeting with Dr. Legaspi as soon as possible.

o In the meantime, the Neo-natal ICU of PGH has submitted a request for six pieces each of baby weighing scale, RAM Cannula, exhaust wall fans, and orbit fans which are estimated to total to 40,000 pesos. It was moved and seconded for FPGH to fund the procurement of these requests.

4. Membership Issues

o Campaign for membership – since it was revealed that only around 35 members renewed their membership and paid their fees, President Pipat suggested to review and amend the cap of 50 members imposed on the recruitment policy. The members agreed to remove the quota or limit of membership to 50 members only.

o Consider regional/provincial branch by recruiting members from the provinces who can serve as conduit between the PGH services and the indigent patients in these provinces.

o Partnership/collaboration with other like-minded organizations – it was proposed to invite other organizations to partner with FPGH in supporting and serving a common cause.

o Members were encouraged to open recruitment to male members

o To incentivize recruitment of new members, the procedure of inviting members should be accompanied by benefits they can derive from joining. For example, one benefit is being included in the Covid vaccination programme. Another benefit is being referred to the right competent doctors and health services at PGH.
