Four Hydrocephalus Children Received Shunts from German Doctors

The Friends of PGH, with the support of a group of German doctors organized under the Kindernothilfe Heidelberg in Germany (KiN e.V) and represented by Dr. Med. Fritz Hack-Ullmer and Dr. Gunter Hecker provided shunts to 29 children suffering from hydrocephalus from January to end June 2011. The children come from various places like Bulacan, Laguna, and Manila.

Since 2004, FPGH through this kind channel were able to save 116 hydrocephalus children by providing them shunts donated by this group of German doctors. Early this year, four children from newborn to age eight months were operated on by FPGH doctors with shunts. We are praying that this assistance from Germany will continue also in the coming years.

FPGH cheers children at the Pediatrics Ward with toys

On 17 August 2011, the FPGH ladies distributed toys, books and clothes to around 60 children in Pediatric Wards 9 and 11. Led by the President Baby Puno, FPGH ladies, Alice Katigbak, Lil Dominguez, Toni Parsons and Lois Villanueva brought cheers to the children of various ages ranging from infant to around 13. 

 

 

The ladies also visited its indigent patients suffering from hydrocephalus, kidney tumor, leukemia and the like. NBN Channel 4 crew came to video shoot the toy and gift-giving event to be presented during its morning show on 23 August when President Baby Puno is interviewed about the organization

FPGH Successfully Organized 2011 Invitational Golf Tournament

The Friends of PGH successfully organized the 4th Invitational Golf Tournament last 10 October 2011 at the Sta. Elena Golf Club, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Participated by 118 golf players this 2011, the Golf Tournament is held every two years to raise funds for the indigent patients of the Philippine General Hospital Emergency Room area.

The Winners of the 4th Invitational Golf Tournament include the following: Under Ladies Division, the Champion was Rio Co and the first Runner-up was Maripaz Domingo. For the Men’s Division: the Class A Champion was John Macaraeg while the Runner-up was Rob Chien. For the Class B, the Champion was Ver Raymundo and the Runner-up was Jojo Ferrer and for Class C, the Champion was Boogie Bugayong and the first Runner-up was David Lim.

The following were the winners for various Fun Holes: : a)The Longest Drive - Edward Puno; b) Nearest the Pin -Erich Lingad and the c) Most Accurate Drive -Connie Mamaril. Unfortunately nobody made a Hole in One.

Many donors and sponsors supported the Golf Tournament --among them Philippine Airlines, Etihad Airlines, First Gen, Dole, Samsonite, Coca Cola, La Rivera Meat Products, and many more. Raffle prizes also came in galore with almost everyone receiving prizes from donors.

Kindernothilfe Donates Euro3,500 Funds for Procurement of Shunts

Kindernothilfe Heidelberg donated fresh funds this year by sending Euro 3,500 or equivalent of Peso197,800 to continue their assistance in treating children below 15 months with hydrocephalus. The donation was sent by Dr. Gunther Hecker who has been coordinating this project from Germany. The funds will be used for procurement of shunts.

2011 Christmas Gift-giving by FPGH

The Friends of PGH brought cheers to PGH Wards 9 and 11 housing the pediatric cases of ill children and their parents on 5 December 2011. Eight members of the Friends of PGH joined the annual Christmas gift-giving activity where they distributed baskets of assorted goodies to more than 100 indigent children in these two wards.
